Gills Rock Backyard Celebration | Kaitlin and Joseph's Door County Wedding to Remember

Kaitlin and Joseph were engaged throughout college and set to marry a month after graduating. My wife and I were in the same exact space two years ago, and I couldn’t help but see our reflection. It was such a tremendous time. Two of our biggest life events, finishing school and saying I do, built upon years of anticipation, fueled by youthful energy, both fulfilled in a single calendar flip. I knew what it was like to be in their shoes, and I was excited for them.

If I were to describe Kaitlin and Joseph’s wedding in one word, it would be connection. Their day started at Bethel Baptist Church in Ellison Bay, and I got goosebumps when the whole congregation offered their hands to the couple, sending their love and energy, singing southern-gospel with tears running down their faces. It was truly special, and despite my best best efforts I know my words will never properly convey the emotion echoing through the walls; it was a feeling that just had to be experienced. It was powerful, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a room so unified.

After the ceremony, the party moved to Gills Rock for a backyard tent reception where we enjoyed a delicious meal by Pink Bakery and a hilarious family joke about parsley.

My favorite moment from the entire celebration came when Kaitlin and Joseph were summoned for a special performance. The two first began talking through Facebook, and their initial conversations were awkwardly flirtatious. On their special day, a few relatives recited their words in front of 100 guests as the entire tent erupted with laughter. Everyone was so HAPPY, and the energy was absolutely invigorating; these are the moments I live for (well, these and 50 page leather bound album reveals).

With that all said, please enjoy the highlights from Kaitlin and Joseph’s wedding :)
