Door County Fall Color Guide

When is the best time to schedule a fall photo shoot in Door County? Travel Wisconsin has a fantastic fall color report that predicts peak color across the state. In Door County, peak color is typically the second or third week of October. As you’re looking at dates, we recommend mid-week to avoid Pumpkin Patch, Fall Fest, and Fall 50 crowds (especially if you’d like to work in a public park).

Where are the best places for fall photos? Here are some of our favorite spots!

Cherry Blossom Park

Cherry Blossom Park has lots of color, room to move, a playground, and is very quiet making it ideal for large families. Conveniently located in Sturgeon Bay!

Peninsula State Park

Eagle Tower and Nicolet Bay Boat Launch are two great spots for fall color photos within the park. Note that a WI state park sticker is required, and Eagle Tower can be particularly busy on weekends.

Potawatomi State Park

The Eastern Terminus of the Ice Age Trail and the Shoreline Boat Launch are two great spots for fall color photos within the park. Note that a WI state park sticker is required, and the Eastern Terminus can be particularly busy on weekends.
