When should you have your photography session?
Choose your session date
If you will be on vacation: Schedule your photography session on the earliest date available; this allows for weather-backup flexibility, and we can switch to a later date to avoid rain, high winds, or whatever mother nature throws our way. For peace of mind, we recommend avoiding your arrival/departure days if possible.
If you are local: We have a lot flexibility, so choose whatever day is best for you!
2. Choose your session time
Early morning: While the best morning light is shortly after sunrise, good sleep is necessary for a good smile; we need balance. For summer sessions with early sunrises, we recommend starting at either 7am or 7:30am. Not only will the light still be great, but even the busiest spots should still be quiet and relaxed. For winter sessions with late sunrises, we recommend starting an hour after daybreak.
Sunset: Evenings provide fantastic light without setting a morning alarm, and we typically recommend starting 30 Minute Sessions an 45 minutes before sunset, 60 Minute Sessions an hour and and 15 minutes before sunset, and 90 Minute Sessions an hour and 45 minutes before sunset.
Midday: Although we don’t recommend midday shoots due to harsh lighting, it might be the only available option for you and we can make it happen!
