I meet the majority of my families/couples for the first time on shoot day, but that’s not the case with Carly and Chris. My wife actually went to college with the pair, where she and Carly were perpetual lab partners before eventually becoming roommates. Although our lives have taken us in different directions post-graduation, we met up earlier this year at Carly’s F.R.I.E.N.D.S-themed birthday party and talked about doing a couples’ photography session.

In F.R.I.E.N.D.S season 7 episode 5, “The One with the Engagement Picture,” Monica and Chandler try to get a professional engagement photograph for the newspaper. Despite having a great natural smile, Chandler struggles in front of the camera and instead makes an expression simply known as “The Face.”

“Chris is like Chandler,” Carly said, “he looks like a serial killer in pictures.”

Chis chuckled with a big smile, “It’s true. It happens every time.”
