Woodwalk Gallery | Libby and Alex's Wedding

Will it rain?

They say a rainy wedding is good luck, yet no one wishes it for themselves. My weather app showed the storm was going to miss us, then that it was going to hit us, then that it was going to miss us…

It hit us in the middle of bridal portraits, about an hour before the ceremony, and three hours after we committed to an outdoor ceremony. The rain fell as guests poured into Woodwalk’s barn. Despite a 100% chance of precipitation we were 0% sure of what to do next. — well, we actually had a plan in place, but I liked the last over dramatized sentence too much to pass up :)

The sky dried precisely at 4 PM when the ceremony was scheduled to begin, but the white wooded guest chairs were soaked at this point. Armed with a laundry basket of towels and a gentle breeze, the groomsmen and I scurried off to dry the chairs. We had a good system; we tipped each chair allowing most of the water to freely run off before finishing the job with a quick wipe. We were back on schedule in no time at all.

If I’m being honest, I’ve had Libby and Alex’s wedding circled, starred, and highlighted on my calendar since I photographed their engagement session last December; I “clicked” with them as much as I have with any other couple in my career. I loved getting to know them over the last year, and watching their wedding enfold exactly how they envisioned was incredibly rewarding. Thanks for everything you two (especially for the camera cat toy for Basil), and congratulations.
